Cher To Wear New Bob Mackie Designs On Next Year's Tour

67-years old superstar Cher has revealed that long-time costume designer Bob Mackie will design outfits for her 2014 tour.

Cher once stated that Bob Mackie is her "dream designer". He created some (all?) of her most memorable outfits including the ones she wore at the 1986 and 1988 (the year she won) Academy Awards. He has also designed the eye-catching ensembles that she sported during her tours. So it's no surprise that the 'Woman's World' singer was excited to have landed him as the costume designer for her next tour - which will likely be her actual farewell tour.

The pleased pop icon tweeted earlier today, "Just heard that Bob will make costumes for the tour. It makes me so unbelievably happy! Last time around, wouldn't be me without him."

Bob Mackie, Cher's costume designerCher met Mackie way back in 1968 during a fitting for 'The Carol Burnett Show' (where she performed her U.S. top ten 'You Better Sit Down Kids'). Then in 1971, he was employed to be the costume designer for Cher on 'The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour', on which she seemed to bare more of her body as the series' went on. Two unforgettable ensembles he designed for Cher during that era were the red beaded dress that she wore atop a piano during the aforementioned show's weekly popular 'Vamp' sketch and the see-through get-up that she showcased on a mid-decade 'Time' magazine cover.

Other than the tour outfits that Cher has sported throughout the years and the aforementioned Oscar outfits, Mackie designed another truely-iconic costume for Cher - the one she sported in the 'If I Could Turn Back Time' music video.

The new tour will promote Cher's new album 'Closer To The Truth', which will be released on the 24th of next month in North America and on the 30th elsewhere.
